What a busy and exciting term it has been! There have been so many wonderful events throughout the school this term, recently with a strong focus on providing great opportunities for our students in Science. Highlights include excursions to Mt Hay, where students explored geology and fossils, and the upcoming StarLab incursion starting next Monday, which will inspire our students to think like young scientists as they learn about the wonders of space.

Earlier this term, our Year 5/6 students participated in Capricorn Coast Sport Gala Days, which was a fantastic way to promote teamwork, collaboration, and pride in our school. Special mention must go to the players in the Tee-ball A and B grade teams who were the winners in their competition, as well as the B Grade Soccer team which also won their division. It was lovely to see the students enjoying these days and displaying great sportsmanship and our school habits.

Additionally, students across the school have been working hard on their persuasive speeches over the last few weeks, and it has been an absolute pleasure listening to them present and share their ideas with confidence and creativity.

As we approach the final week of Term 3, our focus is on finishing the term well. We encourage all students to attend school each day and maintain a positive learning mindset to finish the term strong.

R U OK? Day – 11th September: This week, we marked R U OK? Day, a national day of action reminding us all to check in with our friends, family, and colleagues. Many of our staff wore yellow as a visual reminder of the importance of looking out for one another. It's a simple but powerful message: a conversation could change a life.

We encourage everyone in our school community to continue fostering a culture of care and connection. If you or someone you know needs support, please don't hesitate to reach out to our school's wellbeing team or external services such as Lifeline (13 11 14) or Kids Helpline (1800 55 1800).

Uniform Reminder: As the weather warms up, it's important to ensure all students are following our sun-safe uniform policy. A friendly reminder that when outside, students must wear their royal blue school hat. This is a vital part of our commitment to sun safety, and students without a hat will be asked to remain in shaded areas during outdoor activities.

Thank you for your ongoing support in ensuring our students are dressed appropriately and ready to learn each day.

Welcome to Our New Teacher: We are excited to announce that Sandra Nankivell will be joining our teaching team at the start of Term 4. Sanda will be teaching Prep and taking over from Mrs Leigh, who will be commencing her maternity leave.

Sandra brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to our school, and we are confident she will be a wonderful addition to our community. Please join us in warmly welcoming her next term.

We also wish Mrs Leigh all the best as she prepares for this exciting new chapter in her life.

Life Education Sessions – Term 4: At the start of Term 4, students in Years 3-6 will participate in Life Education sessions. These sessions are an important part of our health and wellbeing curriculum, helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and strategies to make safe and healthy choices.

This year, students will engage with Talk About It, a program by Life Education Queensland designed to support students in developing safe and respectful relationships. The program also helps students understand and manage the physical and emotional changes that occur during puberty.

For more information about the program, please visit the following website: https://lifeeducationqld.org.au/our-programs/talk-about-it/.

Enrolments Open for Yeppoon State High School – 2026: A reminder that enrolments are now open for Yeppoon State High School for 2026. Any families who have not yet contacted the school to book an enrolment interview are encouraged to do so as soon as possible. This is an important step to ensure a smooth transition into high school. The transition into high school program will commence in Term 4, providing students with valuable opportunities to familiarise themselves with the high school environment and prepare for this exciting new chapter in their education. For more information or to book an enrolment interview, please contact the Yeppoon State High School office on 4925 1333.

Holiday Activities – Spring on the Capricorn Coast: Looking for ways to keep the kids entertained during the school holidays? The Livingstone Shire Council has organised a range of exciting activities for students as part of their Spring on the Capricorn Coast program.

From creative workshops to outdoor adventures, there's something for everyone to enjoy. For more information about the activities and events on offer, please visit the following website: https://www.livingstone.qld.gov.au/Living-Here/My-Community/Events/Upcoming-Events/Spring-on-the-Capricorn-Coast.

Circle of Security – Free Online Parenting Program:  We are pleased to share information about the Circle of Security Parenting Program, a free online program designed to help parents and carers build stronger relationships with their children.

This program provides valuable insights into understanding your child's emotional needs and offers practical strategies to support their development. The next program starts on Tuesday, 14th October, and is delivered online for your convenience.
