Dear Parents,
It was an honour today to recognise our August Aussie of the Month recipients. These students regularly demonstrate our school values and habits. My thanks to our local Drakes store who continue to support our school by providing the students with biscuits, cakes and other yummy things to share at the conclusion of the assembly. Last week and this week we also recognised students who have been involved in LEAP Projects. Pictures of these students, and other school happenings can be found on our school's Facebook Page.
In a couple of weeks time Mrs Franklin will be taking leave to prepare for the arrival of their new bub. Mrs Walter, who is well known in our school, will be looking after PrepF for the remainder of the year. All the best Mrs Franklin. We are trying to find a teacher with Special Education experience to take Mrs Walter's place in LEAP for the remainder of the year.
We continue to experience a high volume of absences due to illness both with our students and staff. I can assure you we try very hard to find replacement staff but often are unsuccessful. What this means for our students is that they will often have a substitute teacher or one of our existing teachers being moved from their specialist class.
We have noticed that some sections of our playgrounds are starting to look a bit tired and in some places a little rusty. We have commenced investigating replacement parts as well as painting areas to bring them back to life. Additionally we have placed an order for 29 new desktop computers to replace the completers in the student's computer lab. They are due to arrive early next term.
I will be taking four weeks leave for surgery commencing next week. Ellen Clayton will be Acting Principal and Tiffany Hunter will be Acting Deputy Principal. My thanks to Mel Campisi who will be Acting Head of Special Education during this time.
