Every effort is made to ensure the safety of children at school. Teachers are rostered on playground duty supervision during all eating and play breaks. Students have designated play areas as junior and senior students. In the case of your child being involved in an accident at school the following procedure will apply:

If the accident is of a minor nature the relevant first aid will be applied [e.g. ice or band aid].

If the accident is of a more serious nature then:

  • first aid will be applied
  • the ambulance may be called
  • parent will be contacted
  • if necessary visit a doctor

In the event that the child has to be transported to the hospital it is essential that we are able to contact parent/carer to make arrangements. In extreme emergency the ambulance officer will make a decision on where to transport the student.

In the case of a significant bump to the head parents will be called to come and look at their child or in the event that a parent cannot be contacted, the child will be taken to the Emu Park Medical Centre where a doctor will look at them. This is a local arrangement made between the surgery and Emu Park State School.
