Our curriculum program is designed to meet State requirements and National Standards. We implement –

Australian Curriculum – English, Maths, Science and History Years Prep to 7.

Essential Learnings (Queensland Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Framework) – SOSE, The Arts, Technology, HPE at the targeted junctures of Year 3, 5 and 7.

The Early Learning Framework - Prep. The Prep curriculum is organised around the Early Learning Areas as follows - Social & personal learning, Health & physical learning (Making healthy choices, Gross-motor, Fine-motor), Language learning & communication, Early mathematical understandings and Active learning processes (Thinking, Investigating, Imagining and responding).

The Curriculum into the classroom (C2C) is an Education Queensland initiative to help introduce the new curriculum in Queensland state schools. C2C is a comprehensive suite of resources for classroom teachers. The C2C materials provide a starting point. Teachers at EPSS adopt the C2C unit intent and mandatory assessment tasks, and adapt C2C lessons and resources to meet the needs of their own class and students.

Our teaching practice is guided by a number of key models that are implemented consistently throughout the school. These include the ‘Dimensions of Teaching and Learning’; Our Explicit Instruction Model; and our school’s Reading Pedagogy model.

Specialist’s lessons are provided for all year levels in Music and Physical Education, while Languages other than English – Japanese, is provided for Year 6 and 7 students.
