Welcome to the new look
Learning Engagement Acceleration Program Centre! This has been an exciting time
as we have set up our new facility. Our new LEAP centre is a cluster of
resources - specialist teachers, support teacher aides and external
professionals based here at Emu Park State School. We support all students to
ensure learning. Our LEAP centre programs are dedicated to supporting the
educational needs of all students at one time or another throughout their
schooling. These areas of support include; curriculum programs, extension
programs, fine &
gross motor programs, speech
& language programs, behaviour programs, and programs to ensure engagement
at Emu Park State School. We strive to ensure all students are learning every day
in every classroom.
LEAP
SUPPORT STRUCTURE
Our school provides support
in a variety of ways. We mainly support students in the classroom alongside
their peers, whilst other programs might give students separate, specialised
lessons when needed. Our school Staff plan collaboratively for every student to
participate and learn. Our school Curriculum Framework guides the teaching and
learning of all students. It sets high expectations for the learning achieved
by all students. All Students participate in the same curriculum activities and
learning programs as other students in the class with the support of suitable
adjustments. An adjustment is any change made to help a student participate at
school, learn, and be comfortable and safe. This involves explicit teaching and
scaffolded learning, teaching both the concepts on which the task is based and
the language demands of the task, enabling all students to participate in the
curriculum.
There is a wide range of
adjustments that are possible for students including adjustments to curriculum,
teaching strategies and equipment. Your classroom teacher will contact you if
they feel any of these programs would benefit your child and their learning.
LEAP POINTS
& LAPEL PINS
Certain LEAP programs will
attract LEAP points as students strive to achieve their LEAP lapel pins as
detailed below. Students are awarded points on the completion of certain
courses and these points are tallied throughout their schooling here with us. Our
four levels of awards are reflective of our school colours and are named after
gem stones. Each gem has certain properties that Students are progressing
towards.

intellectual reasoning, communication and persistency
Emerald
unity and harmony, clear vision, memory and clear
assurance
Sapphire
loyalty, truth and sincerity
Our LEAP points are
continually tallied and certificates and lapel pins are presented at the end of
each semester at assembly. Letters are sent home to Parents when their child is
due to receive an award.
