Welcome to Term 2: I wish to extend a warm welcome to our continuing and newly enrolled students and their families as we commence Term 2 at Emu Park State School. I hope you all had a lovely holiday break with your families and our students are excited on their return to school.
Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing Survey: Our Year 4, 5 and 6 students are invited to participate in the Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing Survey. The survey is scheduled for completion at school between Weeks 2 and 4 and will take approximately 30 - 45 minutes. This survey gives schools the opportunity to hear the collective voice of their students and will help to monitor their school culture and student wellbeing. The survey measures 12 wellbeing domains and engagement domains:
- resilience
- school climate
- sense of belonging,
- motivation and perseverance
- academic self-concept
- personal social capabilities
- general life satisfaction
- future outlook and aspirations
- relationships with: peers, teachers, at home, and general health
The survey uses an opt-out consent process. Parents and cares are able to request that their child does not participate in the survey. If you do not want your child to participate in the survey, please forward an email to admin@emuparkss.eq.edu.au and provide your child's name and class and state that you do not provide consent for your child to participate in the survey. Students will also be given the opportunity to opt out if they do not wish to participate on the day.
Whole Be+ing: At Emu Park State School, we believe that the success of our Whole Be+ing program relies on the support of our teachers, students and the wider community to 'Be Here,' 'Be Mindful,' and 'Be Awesome.' Please take the time to chat with your child about our 6 habits: Happy, Grateful, Resilient, Aware, Positive and Healthy.
Tuckshop: As of Week 2 this term, students will not be able to order slushies or ice blocks to consume during the second eating break which is from 2:00-2:15. Classroom teachers will discuss the change with students this week as we transition to a new second break menu.
Term 4 Camps: A reminder to families of students in Years 4 and 5 that in Term 4 these year levels have a camp. Each of the camps are 3 days/2 nights. Years 4 will be going to Konomi Island and Year 5 to Boyne Island. The cost for these camps will not be finalised until later in the year but we predict an approximate cost of between $290- $320 per student.
ANZAC Day March: Tuesday 25th April: As in previous years, we will be marching as a school at the town ANZAC March. Students are asked to meet outside The Pine Beach Hotel in school uniform to commence marching at 8:30am. At the conclusion of the march students will be released to the care and supervision of their parents. There will NOT be a congregation of students kept together under the supervision of our teachers as in previous years. I do encourage students to remain at the service under the care of their parents and to pay their respects. As our students will be in their school uniforms and representing our school, school behaviour expectations remain.
