Welcome to our new and returning families
By all accounts we are off to a great start to the year, excluding the humidity and heat. Our school has experienced a slight growth in numbers meaning that we have an additional class taking us to a total of twenty classes. Sharne Willoughby has taken a years leave and we welcome Vicki Ferguson, Sally Crocker and Darcie Franklin to our school. Mads Oosthuizen has taken 6 months maternity leave and we welcome Ellen Bell into our admin team.
Shayne Schwennesen has resigned from the School's Officer (Groundsman) position and we have advertised for a replacement. If you are interested in this type of work please contact the school for advice on how to apply. My thanks to Allan York who has returned for a short stint, keeping our grounds tidy in the interim. Our Day 8 figures have been logged with the Education Department and our enrolments ensures our current class structure can remain. This is great news for the student's continuity of learning.
Year 4T and 5/6N are doing it a little tough at present with their air conditioning units failing during the first week of school. We have been able to hire two mobile units that are doing their best to reduce the heat whilst the others are being repaired.
Last week I met with some of our mums and dads to discuss the reestablishment of our Parents and Citizens Association. This work will progress steadily over the coming months and I encourage you to watch out for further updates. Our P & C closed down several years ago and the prospect of it returning is very exciting.
Unfortunately I have to take 2 weeks last minute medical leave commencing today. My thanks to Ellen Clayton who will be Acting Principal during this time.
If you are a new parent to our school please come up and introduce yourself to me in the mornings or afternoons when I am out and about in the grounds on my return to work.
Cheers
Wayne
