Term 1 is now well underway and I would like to wish a very warm welcome to our new families and welcome back to our returning families. 2021 promises to be a great year and we already have many learning opportunities underway.
Swimming has begun and the students have met their instructors and are aware of the swimming routines. Lessons I have observed this week are well managed and engaging. We look forward to seeing the growth in the student's skills and confidence in the pool.
Mrs O is our resident scientist this year and is teaching Science with all classes in our new Science room. Take the time to call in one morning and meet some of the resident Spiny Stick insects, our school skeleton Geoff and all of the other exciting exhibits on display.
This year we have been able to offer Japanese to our Year 3 classes with Sensei Thompson. They are enjoying the challenges and are learning greetings, numbers and all about houses and life in Japan.
Tuesday was Safer Internet Day and last week our students in Year 4, 5 and 6 participated in a session on cyber safety and safe online behaviours. Many young people access and regularly use and share information on social media apps. This guide provides families with information on many of these apps. http://www.esafety.gov.au/sites/default/files/2020-09/Parent%20guide%20to%20popular%20apps%20-%20Summary%20sheet.pdf
Mrs Fisher is focussing on safe internet behaviours during Technologies lessons. If you would like more information and support for your family on safe internet use http://www.esafety.gov.au/about-us/events/safer-internet-day-2021/family-and-friends
Classes have begun their information sessions and I encourage you to attend and get to know your children's teachers for 2021.
