Dear Parents and Carers
The year is quickly drawing to an end and all classes are busy finishing up end of year assessments and tasks. We are seeing many reasons to celebrate and congratulate our students as they demonstrate the growth in their knowledge and skills and we reflect on how far they have travelled this year. Sharing your child's report card with them and highlighting their growth and efforts is a great way to celebrate. Reports will be emailed on the last day of term.
We still have several weeks of school before the end of the year. Lessons and learning will continue through to the end of Week 10. Students who attend in Week 11 will be supervised in classes.
Christmas Treats, Candy Canes, Cards and Clothing: As the holiday season approaches, we ask that the giving of cards, candy canes and other Christmas celebration items be kept for Friday 6th December, the last day of Week 10. This will assist us in keeping the student's focus on learning while we are still teaching and implementing the curriculum.
Students may wear Christmas themed shirts or clothes on Friday 6th December. Please ensure they are sun safe. Students are required to wear full school uniform in Week 11 as per normal.
Report Cards: Semester 2 report cards will be emailed home on the last day of term. To guarantee you receive these without issue please confirm that we have your current email address on record. Unfortunately due to the system settings and firewalls associated with Hotmail accounts they do not allow the One School system to communicate efficiently with them. Therefore in the past, families with Hotmail accounts have had difficulty receiving report cards. To ensure you receive your child's report providing us with alternative email address, if possible, would avoid a missed report.
Classes and Teachers for 2025: We are currently working on the class structures and teachers for 2025. If you are not returning to Emu Park State School next year, could you please notify the school office as soon as possible. Class structures and school staffing are decided on student enrolment numbers and finalised on the 8th day of the school year. It is important to be aware if these numbers change on or prior to this day, teachers and allocated classes for students are subject to change. If this was to occur, we will notify parents and carers.
Students, parents and carers will be notified of their proposed 2025 class and teacher on the last day of term when we have finalised numbers and classes. All families will be notified by email.
Updated Booklist 2025: The 2025 booklist is available on our website. Due to a recent update please check that you have the current version. To save some heavy lifting and to make the first day of the year a little easier, families will be able to drop off their book packs to their new classroom on Thursday 23rd January between 2:00-3:00 pm. Please name all of your children's belongings, books and pencils clearly.
Uniforms: As the end of the year approaches, we understand that students may be growing out of their uniforms or they may be wearing out. We ask that students all wear the correct uniform of the school polo shirt and black bottoms. Families requiring new uniforms are reminded that they are available from the school office. All of the larger variety stores stock the black bottoms at their Back-to-school sales as well for your convenience. You can purchase uniforms through the QKR app and you or your child can pick them up from the office.
The school office will be open from Monday 20th January for families to purchase school uniforms. We expect and appreciate all of students in the correct uniform.
Emu Park polo shirts $30
Bucket hats $12
Broad brim hats $12
Skorts $20
Shorts $ 15
Sun Safety: NO HAT NO PLAY! Summer is definitely here and it is important that all students bring a hat each day. Students must have a hat to play in the outdoor play areas. School hats are available for purchase at the office or through the QKR app at any time.
SoloFest: Congratulations to our instrumental music students who performed for a large audience of parents and friends on Tuesday night. It was amazing to see the growth in skill, confidence and musical ability in all of the students. We were able to enjoy the beginning skills of the first-year students and see the progress made as the second and third year students performed. I am sure that the audience would agree that our Year 6 students have progressed amazingly and are truly talented. They demonstrated what can be achieved with practice and resilience. Many thanks to Ms Candy and Mrs Dobson for their patience, hard work and encouragement throughout the year.
Focus on our Habit of Resilient: The end of the year with its many assessments and the uncertainly of what the next year will bring can be unsettling and challenging for all students. It is during these times that the habit of Resilience is tested. On our cogs we define Resilience as Facing challenges. Developing confidence. Practising strategies for coping. This is an emotion and mindset that needs to be nurtured in children so they become independent, brave, and determined. Research shows that you can help your child build resilience by practising these key skills with them: Connection, Physical Activity, Empathy and Predictability.
