Dear parents
We almost have the extension of the school fence completed. As I write this we are still waiting on the double gates and temporary fencing to be moved away. This will definitely make it better with the parking spots being returned and students will again be able to leave through the gate outside the hall.
Additionally, the oval and soccer field is now irrigated. It is a balancing act of keeping the grass green enough and not over using our allocation.
Over the holiday break our three playgrounds will receive much needed maintenance. All will have damaged parts fixed or replaced as well as repainting. The Prep playground will also receive new softfall. This is great news and comes at a cost of over $200,000
We continue to look at all opportunities to reduce the cost of swimming for our families. Conversations have been had with the local pool management and we are currently working with Seaspray management to seek alternate and possibly more cost effective pool hire. We will keep you informed of our progress.
We have started planning for staffing and classes for 2025. At this point our numbers of students indicate twenty classrooms. The class structure depends on where enrolments sit creating composite classes in some levels. On some occasions we create composite classes to allow the spread of students. As we did last year we will be using a piece of software that allocates students according to information that we provide then teachers scrutinise the results making appropriate changes. The data that is put into the system includes academic performance, behaviour incidences, disability, gender and friends selected by the student. As the number of enrolments heavily affects the composition of classes we expect changes right through until the end of the school term. If you know you will be leaving our school at the end of this year we would appreciate being made aware. Families will receive an email on the last day of school stating the class, their teacher and room for the start of 2025.
This is a long term for our students with the additional week. Assessments are underway that will provide information to teachers for reporting purposes. Reports will be emailed out to families at the end of the term. Now would be a good time to contact the school if your email address has changed. The report email is an automated process that is sent to any parent that has an email address and “receives correspondence".
Teaching, formal assessments and class breakup parties will be completed by the end of Week 10. Our school will be supervising students that attend in Week 11.
Sincerely
Wayne
