Dear Parents and Carers,

Term 4 is well underway. This term we have welcomed several new families to our school and local community.  We hope they are enjoying living in our beautiful area.

This term we started with Parent Teacher Interviews. It is always great to meet with parents and carers and have the opportunity to discuss the students' progress. Year 4 were fortunate to experience a fantastic camp at North Keppel Island Environmental Centre.

Our LEAP Pin Assembly was held on Friday 8.  Students received pins and were acknowledged for participating in a wide range of LEAP projects. Some of these projects included Before School Reading, Numeracy or Phonics projects, Robotics, Lego projects and Science Club. Congratulations to the students who qualified for pins.

On Friday the 29 October we recognised two special days.

Day for Daniel: Students were encouraged to wear RED and bring along a Gold coin donation.

Day for Daniel is Australia's largest child safety education and awareness day.

How does my donation help?

With your donation, we can educate children, schools and families to recognise signs of harm, to react in a safe way and to report to adults who can help stop the abuse. Our Walk Tall counselling service helps young victims of crime on their journey to recovery. Your support no matter how big or small, can make a difference.  https://danielmorcombe.com.au

Australia celebrated and thanked the teaching profession on World Teachers' Day on Friday 29 October.

High School Transition:  High School transition days are well underway for our Year 6 students who are attending Yeppoon High School next year. Most students have attended Yeppoon High for the day with their potential class for Year 7. If you have a child who is Year 7 next year it is important that your child is enrolled as soon as possible. Please contact Yeppoon High to arrange an enrolment interview.

Prep 2022:  We have begun our LEAP into Prep sessions for our 2022 Prep students. If you have a prep aged child for 2022 or know of one please enrol them as soon as possible so they don't miss our fun sessions this term!

RACQ – Streets Ahead:  During Week 7, RACQ will be visiting and educating our students in their Streets Ahead program. The Streets Ahead program is free to all Queensland primary schools and includes age-appropriate lessons on passenger, pedestrian and bicycle safety. Using a specially designed road mat Prep to Year 2 students learn correct road safety behaviours and practice crossing the road safely. For Years 3 - 6 students, our Education Officers will demonstrate the importance of responsible behaviours and safety equipment, like helmets and seatbelts, through engaging lessons.

Year 5 Camp:  During Week 8 our Year 5 students are off to Boyne Island Environmental Education Centre. Preparations and planning are well underway and students and teachers are looking forward to participating in Mission Possible where students are called to action with an exciting mission to escape from a deserted island. They are challenged to use their critical thinking skills and leadership skills to make the Mission Possible. Students will enjoy team building missions, conquer the low ropes and high ropes challenge, experience the mighty mangrove environment, climb the bouldering walls and walk through the senses trail.

Year 6 Graduation Night:  Tuesday 7 December is Graduation night for Year 6. The evening will begin with a shared meal outside the tuckshop and then we will move into the hall for speeches and presentations. The celebration will continue on Wednesday at school with a disco for the Year 6 students.  Watch your email for details.
