A Warm Welcome to Our School Community:  I would like to take a moment to sincerely thank the entire Emu Park State School community for the warm welcome I have received since joining the school this term. It has been a pleasure getting to know the students, staff, and families. Your support has made my transition to this community smooth and enjoyable. I am excited to be a part of this school and look forward to working with you to support our students to achieve their potential.

ANZAC Service – A Respectful Commemoration:  On Thursday, 24th April, our school held a moving ANZAC Day service to pay our respects to the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve in our defence forces. I am incredibly proud of how our students conducted themselves during the service. A big thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible.

On Friday, 25th April, many of our students participated in the community service and represented the school with pride. A special mention must go to our school captains, Taika  and Willow  who read the poem “In Flanders Field" as part of the morning service. I received many comments from members of the wider community who were impressed with the manner in which our students displayed their respect at the service and represented our school.

Gala Days – Year 5 and 6 Students Representing Emu Park:  Our Year 5 and 6 students are excited about participating in the KCD Gala Days on 16th and 23rd May. These events will see our students taking part in a variety of activities, including bowling, flag football, netball, and rugby league. This is a fantastic opportunity for them to showcase their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship as they represent our school. I wish all the students the best of luck, and I know they will make us proud. We are excited to cheer them on!

Student Health and Wellbeing:  Health and wellbeing education forms a significant aspect of our curriculum at Emu Park SS.

Daniel Morcombe Safety Program:  In the coming weeks, we will be delivering the Daniel Morcombe Safety Program to our Year 1 and 2 students. This program will help our young learners to understand key lessons regarding personal space and safety.

Queensland Wellbeing and Engagement Survey:  In Week 4, May 12 to 16th, students in Years 2 to 6 will be asked to take part in the Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing (QEW) Survey.

We know that wellbeing and engagement are important parts of your child's life at school. The QEW Survey is designed to measure how students view their wellbeing and engagement across different topics. The information we get from the survey helps us better understand and support our students.

An information letter was emailed to all parents of Year 2 to 6 children. If you have any questions, please contact the school. More information, including FAQs, can be found on the Education website: (https://qed.qld.gov.au/publications/reports/statistics/schooling/students/queensland-engagement-wellbeing-survey).

Community Notices:  Yeppoon State High School will be holding an information evening and tour of the school for all current Year 5 & 6 students and their families on Wednesday 14th May. There are two sessions that families could attend – one starting at 4pm and the other at 5pm. This is a great opportunity to meet some of the key staff, see the school facilities and identify the opportunities available for your child at our local state high school. For further enquiries, please contact the Yeppoon State High School office on 4925 1333.
