Welcome back to Term 4 and welcome to our new families who have joined us this term. Welcome back to Ms Gannon who returns from parental leave. Ms Gannon is teaching Japanese on Wednesdays and 4J on Thursdays and Fridays.

Once again, we have a very busy term. Please watch for emails for information regarding upcoming dates and events.

2023 Senior Leaders:  Eligible Year 5 students will receive their Yellow Cards this week to begin the process of applying for Senior Leader positions for 2023. Students must have achieved their Gold Personal Achievement Award and to have demonstrated exemplary behaviour in 2022. There are several categories of Senior Leaders that students may apply for. These include School and Vice Captains, House Captains and Music Captains and Senior Leaders. We look forward to acknowledging our new school leaders in the near future.

Year 4 Konomie Camp:  Year 4 students have the wonderful opportunity to attend camp at Konomie Environmental Education Centre next week. Thank you to the staff who are attending and giving up their own and family time to provide this opportunity to our students. We look forward to hearing about all the fun and learning. Parents please ensure you have read all of the information to ensure you are at the Marina on time and any medication requirements and instructions are completed.

Year 2 Heritage Village Excursion:  Our Year 2 students visited the Heritage Village this week as part of their HASS unit. Students have been learning how technology, transport and life has changed over time. Lots of fun learning activities filled the day.

Year 3 Botanical Gardens and Zoo Excursion:  Year 3 students will be visiting Rockhampton Botanical Gardens in Week 5 as part of their Poetry unit for English. The aim of the excursion is to explore the Japanese Gardens and the Rockhampton Zoo. This excursion will be a fantastic opportunity for the students to brainstorm ideas using their senses (hear, see, smell, feel) for their poetry unit this term. They will spend the day exploring the gardens and the zoo in small groups and making notes.

Yeppoon High School Transitions:  Transition activities for our Year 6 students continue this term. Students who have completed their enrolment with the High School will visit Yeppoon High for two days this term. One day with their prospective 2023 Year 7 Core class. Each Core class will be attending on a different day so it is important that they attend on their correct day. An email notifying parents of their child's prospective Core class for 2023 was sent home earlier this week. The second transition day is Wednesday 30 November when all 2023 Year 7 students attend together. If students have not completed their enrolment they are not able to attend these days. If you have any questions regarding these days and classes please contact Yeppoon High School. 49251333.

Day for Daniel:  Friday 28 October is Day for Daniel. Students are invited to wear a red shirt and bring a gold coin donation along to help raise awareness and funds for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. Each year we teach our students about child safety, protection and harm using the Daniel Morcombe units. We encourage you to start a conversation with your children about personal safety. For more assistance and information go to https://danielmorcombe.com.au/

Year 6 Graduation - Tuesday 6 December:  Our official Year 6 Graduation Ceremony will be Tuesday 6 December. We will begin with light refreshments at 6pm and begin our formal ceremony at 6:30pm. Please watch for further information closer to the time.
